THE student arrested after eggs were thrown at the King has been banned from having eggs in a public place.

Patrick Thelwell, 23, was held on suspicion of a public order offence and released on bail on Wednesday.

His bail conditions include the egg ban and not being allowed within 500 metres of Charles.

After his release, he told the Mirror: “I’m not allowed to possess any eggs in a public place. It’s funny.

“Then they had a think about that last one and ‘actually that’s a bit unfair. What if he needs to buy some eggs?’.

“So they changed it to only being allowed to possess eggs in a public place if I’m coming back from doing the grocery shopping and I have the receipt for them.”

It came after eggs were hurled at – but missed – the King and Queen Consort while they visited York.

Thelwell, who is studying for a masters degree in international relations at the city’s university, said the crowd was “literally screaming and wailing with pure rage” at him as he was arrested.

He claimed: “They were saying that my head should be on a spike, that I should be murdered on the spot.

my hair out, spitting at me. People were kicking me. Of course they were. I challenged the very core of their identity.”

Thelwell said that his mother was concerned but OK with him.

The activist said: “I’ve had death threats, people on DM, Instagram, saying, ‘If I’m not careful I’m going to get my head cut off ’.

“I did what I did because I don’t believe in kings. “I believe in the equality of all people.”
