IT was just a day’s work for the up-and-coming rock stars but the best day of her life for their young fan.

Jenny Taylor, then 19, had won a newspaper competition to join the Beatles on their tour of Liverpool for the Northern premiere of A Hard Day’s Night.

She flew with John, Paul, George and Ringo from London to Liverpool on July 10, 1964.

She joined them for lunch with the mayor, enjoyed a trip to the Cavern Club and sat with them at the Odeon cinema to watch their comedy film.

Waiting for the flight back to London, Paul McCartney gave Jenny his satchel, one of four made for the band by airline British Eagle.

She also got all four to sign her souvenir film programme. Now Jenny, a 77-year-old widow with two grown-up daughters, is auctioning them. She said: “We were held in a private lounge at the airport and I just chatted with Paul like we were teenagers. He was really friendly.”

Paul Fairweather of Omega Auctions, Merseyside, is selling the signatures and bag on November 29. He said: “It’s surely any fan’s dream.”

They are expected to fetch £20,000.
