New gold one-eighth sovereign a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II’s life of service and devotion.

-

For more than 70 years, Queen Elizabeth II dedicated herself to the service of her country and its people. She was to many a source of constancy in a world that was continually changing, a source of calm among the chaos.

As we come to terms with the sadness of her passing, we also have an opportunity to pay thanks for her life and legacy. Hers was a tireless and historymaking reign of service and devotion to the British people, for over seventy years.

A new gold one-eighth sovereign coin has just been announced in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. Both sides have been designed by Jody Clark, designer of the Fifth (and final) portrait of Her Late Majesty that appears on Britain’s current coinage.

A PORTRAIT CREATED ESPECIALLY FOR THIS COIN RELEASE

On the reverse, the Imperial State Crown rests upon a rose, thistle, shamrock and leek. The choice of this crown is not accidental: it was worn by Queen Elizabeth II at her coronation, and to the State Opening of Parliament in most years. It is a prominent symbol of the duties she carried out for over seven decades.

The obverse of this coin is significant as Jody Clark has created a portrait of The Queen that will only appear on this oneeighth sovereign and other coins in this tribute series. It depicts Her Late Majesty in the tiara and earrings of her wedding day, wearing a brooch gifted to her by her late husband HRH Prince Philip. If the reverse design is considered to be a celebration of her role as monarch, then this unique portrait is a tribute to her personal life as wife, mother and grandmother.

FEWER THAN 1 IN 1,000 UK HOUSEHOLDS CAN OWN ONE

This new coin is certain to be highly sought-after, but just 19,999 have been minted. Authorised by Tristan da Cunha and approved by both the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and Buckingham Palace, its mintage limitation means that fewer than one in every thousand UK households can own one.

HOW TO SECURE ONE FOR YOURSELF

Those interested in owning one of these world-first gold coins may do so now by taking advantage of the introductory price being offered by Hattons of London. The coin is available for just £69 (plus £4.99 P&P) but only until 28th February 2023 after which the price will be £149. Applicants must be aged 18 years or over and this offer is subject to availability. A strict limit of one per household applies.

Each coin comes with a 60 day full right of return. The contact details for Hattons of London appear below. Note this offer is not available elsewhere.
