TOP-FOUR SPOT JUST THE JOB FOR CONTE

- BY JON WEST

ANTONIO CONTE will award himself a ‘well-done’ sticker if Tottenham beat Leeds today.

But the Italian has offered zero assurances he will use the World Cup break to sort out a new contract – his current deals ends in June.

Spurs know that unless they slip up at home to Jesse Marsch’s visitors they will spend Christmas in the top four.

And given this will be their 13th game in three different competitions since October 1, Conte (right) reckons that counts as success against the odds.

He said: “We are at the last game of this marathon. We played 13 games but every game was really tough and we lost a lot of energy.

“To finish with a win would be very important for us. With qualification for the Champions League, if you continue to stay in the top four in this first part of the season, it means you did a good job.”

Conte vowed to sit down during the World Cup with chairman Daniel Levy and managing director of football Fabio Paratici to discuss Spurs’ season so far – but said nothing of a new contract.

He added: “It is right to have a meeting to discuss the positives and the negatives, and how we can improve.”

Wing-back Ryan Sessegnon is out and Conte must decide if Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski, who both came off the bench in the Carabao Cup, are fit enough to start.
