Three lions legends: Cup win possible
ENGLAND legends Terry Butcher and Peter Reid have backed the Three Lions to defy expectations and go far at the World Cup.
Gareth Southgate’s men fly to Qatar tomorrow and despite their recent poor form, the pair believe success is in their hands.
Butcher, 63, said: “We still have a lot of talent.
“I think we can learn from that awful experience against Italy at the Euros.
“We did really well to get to the semi-finals in Russia. We have a point to prove, but we need to be ruthless.”
Reid, 66, added: “I am quietly confident despite our recent bad spell. I still think we can do well.”
England suffered defeats in this summer’s Nations League contest.
