Kids in Wales get time out for Dragons

- BY RYAN MERRIFIELD

SCHOOLS in Wales have been given permission to cancel lessons so pupils can watch their national team play in the World Cup.

The Dragons’ game against Iran on Friday, November 25, kicks off at 10am and is the only group stage fixture the team plays during school hours.

The Welsh Government has given each school the power to decide what to do.

Gareth Bale’s side are the first from Wales to qualify since 1958.

The Football Association of Wales is also organising Cymru Football Friday events around the game, with more than 1,000 schools taking part in skills sessions and matches.

FAW boss Noel Mooney said: “You want a child to remember it.”
