Hearing loud & clear after plastic find

- BY JOSEPH DRAPER

A MAN has his full hearing restored after discovering a tiny piece of plastic from noise defenders had been in his ear for five years.

Former Royal Navy engineer Wallace Lee, 66, thought that going partially deaf was due to a career of working with noisy helicopters.

Even when he developed an infection in his left ear, his GP could not find anything wrong.

But when Mr Lee bought an endoscope, which sent video from in his ear to his phone, he spotted a foreign object. A doctor removed a 1cm plastic insert left from defenders he used during a flight in 2017.

Mr Lee, of Weymouth, Dorset, said: “As soon as this plastic came out I could hear perfectly. It feels like a new lease of life.”
