Heartbroke­n mother warns: Young drivers are hazardous

THE mum of a teenager killed in a road crash is warning about the dangers of inexperien­ced young drivers.

Passenger Caitlin Huddleston, 18, died in a 2017 collision with a van.

Her friend, who had passed her test four months earlier and was driving the car, also died.

Road collisions are the top cause of death worldwide for people aged five to 29, says the

Devastated mum Sharron Huddleston said: “If only I had known the risks, I wouldn’t have let Caitlin get in the car.” Sharron, of Millom, Cumbria, revealed Caitlin had left the house 15 minutes before the accident. She said: “I had just fastened the buttons on the back of Caitlin’s blouse and she turned just before leaving and asked me, ‘Do I look alright, Mam?’. They were her last words to me.”
