STEELY TARA FIRED UP

- BY DAVE CRAVEN

TARA-JANE STANLEY says England men’s gut-wrenching World Cup defeat has strengthened the resolve of the women’s side ahead of their lastfour showdown tonight.

They face New Zealand at York star Stanley’s home ground for a place in Saturday’s final – barely 48 hours after the men’s shock exit to Samoa. The 2022 Woman of Steel (left) said: “We don’t want it to end the way it ended for the men. It was gutting. We know we need to perform but we know we can do it. That’s all that matters.” Papua New Guinea face Australia in the first of a semi-final double header.
