FLEETWOOD HAS CASHED IN AT BANK
TOMMY FLEETWOOD fought back tears as he ended a three-year drought. The Southport ace (below) carded a closing 67 win the Nedbank Golf Challenge, which was the last title he won way back in 2019. The tournament was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Ryder Cup star had surprisingly failed to follow up his success at Sun City with any further victories until this week. “One of my biggest goals for a while has been to win with my whole family here,” said an emotional Fleetwood. “My son is always saying I never win anything.”
Fleetwood finished on 11 under par, a shot ahead of New Zealand’s Ryan Fox, who bogeyed the 72nd hole.
