BEN PLOTTING OPERATION KANE

- BY TONY BANKS

BEN DAVIES watched his Tottenham team-mate Harry Kane notch his 12th goal of the season – and then began thinking about how he is going to stop him in Qatar.

The Wales international will come up against Kane and England in the third and final group match on November 29 – a fixture which is shaping up to be key. And he admitted that containing the man he faces in training every day will not be an easy task. “Harry is a top player, one of the best in the world. It will be a very hard game when we play him,” said Davies.

Wales open their finals campaign – their first since 1958 – against the USA a week today and Davies insisted: “It won’t be hard to switch on to the World Cup. We are professional footballers. We are buzzing for it. We can’t wait for it.

“This is the situation we have been put into, this is what we are dealing with. We are looking forward to the first game.”

Davies, who has 74 caps for his country and starred for them at Euro 2020, also found the net in Tottenham’s 4-3 win over Leeds with his second goal of the campaign.

Wales are 11-2 to finish top of the group, with England 4-11, USA 11-2 and Iran 14-1.
