CARLISLE 0 WALSALL 0

CARLISLE boss Paul Simpson hopes this stalemate will help deliver victory when the teams meet again in the FA Cup at Walsall.

He said: “We’ll be working out where we can be better for the next one, because it will come round very quickly.

“First let’s put this to bed then go looking for a result at Salford next Saturday – because that will then make this a really good point.”

GILLINGHAM 0 NORTHAMPTON 2 Hoskins 27, Bowie 72

NORTHAMPTON boss Jon Brady believes his side are emerging from a dip which has seen them win just two of their last nine games.

Sam Hoskins put the Cobblers ahead and then crossed for Kieron Bowie to rifle home.

“It’s a tough game but we go into it in a really good place and hopefully we can get three points.”

DANNY ROSE had no sympathy for Ben Killip after catching out the Hartlepool keeper for the winning goal.

Rose stole in as Killip rolled the ball out and admitted: “I did think he was going to spot me, but he didn’t. I’ve pounced and managed to put the ball in the back of the net.

“I don’t feel sorry for him, he’s got to check where he is and I can’t wait to watch that one back.”

CRAWLEY 1 Nadesan 6 BARROW 0

DOM TELFORD says Crawley interim boss Lewis Young has the backing of the players as the club decide on a fulltime appointment.

GRIMSBY 1 McAtee 79 DONCASTER 3 Miller 6, 63, Biggins 51

George Miller and Biggins did the damage for Donny before John McAtee’s late consolation.

Biggins said: “Everyone is full of confidence and playing for each other.

“It is a real marker of where we’re at, to come here and have a pretty convincing win.”

ROCHDALE 0 MANSFIELD 1 Maris 66

GEORGE MARIS praised team-mate Hiram Boateng for the assist that led to Mansfield’s matchwinner.

Goalscorer Maris said: “You know when he gets it on his left foot, you’ve got to make a move into the right area.

“It was a bit of an awkward height. Everyone said I should’ve headed it, but I’m not the best header of the ball, so I got my foot through it.”

SUTTON UTD 0 BRADFORD CITY 2 Cook 37, Banks 51

BRADFORD boss Mark Hughes admits he will have to manage the return of winger Abo Eisa carefully after a year out with a succession of injuries.

Hughes said: “It was an easy decision for me to put Abo in. We’ve been careful with him, because he’s been out for so long, but he’s in a good place.

“It’s just his game time we’re having to be careful with initially.”

CREWE 1 Agyei 80 COLCHESTER 0

ACTING Crewe boss Alex Bell believes his side are demonstrating they are capable of reversing their recent slide.

Victory over Colchester gave them a first win in eight games.

Bell said: “We need to win some matches.

“That’s always the most important thing, no matter what has gone before, and if you’re not going to do it in the planned way – find a way And they found a way.”

HARROGATE 0 LEYTON ORIENT 2 Smyth 7, Moncur 24 pen

GEORGE MONCUR says Paul Smyth is key to Orient’s promotion charge.

The midfielder scored from the spot after Smyth’s early opener.

“He’s different gear, the geezer,” Moncur said of his team-mate.

“It’s about getting him in the right areas and when we get the dangerous players round that area, we’ve got the ability to open up defences.”

SALFORD CITY 0 AFC WIMBLEDON 0

JACK CURRIE believes Wimbledon are reaping the benefits of their work on the training ground after keeping a second successive clean sheet.

The Dons defender said: “We want to be as solid as possible. It’s something we’ve worked on, defending from set-pieces, and we’ve put that into practice.

“We all defended properly and knew what we needed to do to keep a clean sheet.”

SWINDON 1 Wakeling 30 TRANMERE 1 Hawkes 9

SWINDON manager Scott Lindsey believes his side have laid the foundation for a promotion push.
