I’m first-time homebuyer.. at age of 86

- BY JOE ROBINSON

A PENSIONER has become Britain’s oldest firsttime homebuyer, aged 86.

Simon Jones had always lived on his family’s farm before moving into Marleyfield House assisted care facility a year ago.

But he always wanted his own home and has bought a £147,000 bungalow in Flintshire, Wales.

Simon said: “I’m so excited to finally have a place of my own, I loved it at Marleyfield but I want to spend my remaining years in my own home. It’s certainly worth the wait.”

Niece Lynne Palin said: “At Marleyfield he was known as a real character, and a bit of a lady’s man so he’ll be missed there.

“He has solar panels on the roof of the bungalow, and he thought that means he’ll get free electricity.”
