Forget the matchday strips, how do latest M&S outfits match up to England’s past World Cup fashions?

It’s a look that could have sparked a knot of bother in years gone by .... the official England World Cup squad pictured without ties. But the Three Lions’ chic navy jackets, cream shirts and tailored trousers by M&S scored style points on the eve of their departure to Qatar.

Mirror fashion editor Lauren Goodwin-Grafton branded it “classic yet refreshing­ly modern”.

Although this year’s outfit is pitch perfect, let’s look at what the squad has worn over the years.
