Len to waltz away
Head judge Len Goodman has quit Dancing With the Stars after 18 years.
The ballroom expert, who was signed up for the US version of Strictly Come Dancing a year after proving a hit in the UK, revealed his decision to leave during Monday’s semi-final.
“It’s been a huge pleasure to be a huge part of such a wonderful show,” he said.
“I cannot thank you enough, the DWTS family. It has been such a wonderful experience for me. I’m looking forward to next week’s finale. I’m sure it’s going to be absolutely brilliant.” Explaining he wanted to spend more time with his grandchildren, he added: “Doing a live show you have to be at the top of your game and quick to react. And as one gets older, then things start to get more challenging. I haven’t fallen asleep or started dribbling yet on the show, so I thought it’s best to go before I start to do so.”
Bruno Tonioli, who left Strictly because of Covid in 2020, remains on the panel of the Disney+ show.
