MY AMAZING PHOTOGRAPH
A regular at his local cathedral – the grand St Philip’s in Birmingham – Paul Turner particularly admires its 307-year-old organ. The cathedral, which was built in 1715, is a fine example of English Baroque architecture, and is the seat of the Bishop of Birmingham.
Paul is a man of many talents – he is an artist, writes short stories and is also an enthusiastic photographer.
The 63-year-old, from Birmingham, says: “The cathedral’s organ dates from 1715 but it has been restored and regilded many times.”
Similarly, the cathedral’s four stained glass windows by local Pre-Raphaelite artist, Sir Edward Burne-Jones, are still the originals and are definitely worth a visit if you’re local.
The glorious windows were removed during the war and replaced unharmed when the building was restored in 1948.
