When will it all end?
MUM-of-five Jen Derrick is worried about taxes rising and what will happen if the energy price cap ends.
She and husband Jonathan, 50, a technical director for a highways construction firm, rent their home in Mansfield, Notts, and were saving for a deposit until they were forced to begin dipping into their savings.
Jen, 33, whose children are between ages of four to 11, says: “In the first week or two, money from the monthly wage is gone. It just seems there’s no escape. Everything you spend money on has increased. It’s not just one aspect.” The family has been trying to cut back on their energy use but when their tumble dryer broke they had to rely on radiators to dry clothes.
Jen says: “I’m forever playing the laundry game. I feel bad that my youngest has got a really bad cough at the minute.
“The people that are in charge, we haven’t voted for them. We’re all suffering but for what? What is the plan here? When will it end?”
