PUBLIC SPEND CUTS IN 2025

THE deepest public spending cuts were shelved until after the next election – which must take place by January 2025. But ministries will have to make cuts before then to take account of inflation. Paul Johnson of the Institute for Fiscal Studies said: “Most of the difficult decisions on spending have been deferred for a couple of years.”
