Eyesight clue to heart peril
FAILING vision can be a warning of a heart attack or stroke, researchers say.
It offers hope that opticians may be able to scan for the killer conditions.
Prof Theodore Smith, of New York’s Mount Sinai School of Medicine, said his team found fatty deposits in the eye associated with vision loss could be caused by heart or artery damage.
He added: “This study shows the first strong link between macular degeneration and heart disease.”
