Hankies at the ready...
CHILDREN IN NEED 2022 BBC1, 7pm
DIG deep for the annual live night of entertainment, which regularly proves that crying and laughing can be achieved simultaneously for several hours.
Hosted by Ade Adepitan, Mel Giedroyc, Chris Ramsey, Alex Scott and Jason Manford, expect the usual “Spot-actular” fundraiser, complete with cute bear, sketches, performances, music, dance and a few big surprises.
Bradley Walsh hosts a very special children’s takeover of Blankety Blank with contestants Maisie Smith and John Whaite.
The Repair Shop team shares the story behind a remarkable restoration, and celebrities take on Graham Norton’s infamous Red Chair – with their fate in the hands of some cheeky youngsters. Romesh Ranganathan hosts a memorable edition of The Weakest Link in the studio – with a BBC Children in Need twist – and we hear the winners of The Sir Terry Wogan Fundraiser of the Year Awards.
There’s a Junior Eurovision TV exclusive as the young contestant selected to represent the UK performs their song live.
Watch out also for music from Lewis Capaldi, a bespoke routine from dance troupe Diversity, and a rendition of Somewhere Only We Know by the Children In Need choir.
And of course, appeal films throughout will always pull on the heartstrings.
Mel Giedroyc says: “More than ever I want to be involved. There are so many children facing the very real crisis of poverty this winter, and it is our honour and duty at BBC Children in Need to try and help.”
