1959: Joe Baker made history when he became the first player from outside the Football League to play for England. The Hibernian star scored in the 2-1 win over Northern Ireland at Wembley. 2001: Britain’s Lennox Lewis regained the WBC, IBF and IBO heavyweight titles with a fourth-round knockout of Hasim Rahman in Las Vegas. 2005: Roy Keane left Manchester United after 12-and-a-half years at the club. 2013: Former British No.1 Elena Baltacha announced her retirement from tennis. She died of liver cancer in May 2014 at the age of 30.
