Why exercise is frozen out over winter
ONE in five adults admit their exercise levels fall by as much as 37% over the winter, a study found.
The summer average of four workouts per week drops with the temperature, with nearly three in four blaming colder weather for the change.
Andreas Michaelides, of wellness app Noom, which commissioned the OnePoll survey of 2,000 adults, said: “Hibernation mode kicks in and we lose motivation.” Top 10 reasons we exercise less in winter: 1. Too cold 2. Too dark
3. Too wet 4. Harder to motivate yourself 5. Safety fears exercising in the dark outside 6. Less energy
7. More likely to pull a muscle in cold weather 8. Hibernation mode
9. Less body conscious in winter
10. Saving on gym membership due to higher heating bills.
