Four thousand Royal Marines sailed to the South Atlantic where they fought at every stage of the war, from the first amphibious assault to the 56-mile yomp across boggy East Falkland and the final battles in the mountains above Port

Stanley. 42 Cdo retook Mount Harriet on the night of June 11 following fierce night fighting with Argentine forces.

Six Marines were awarded gallantry medals following the battle and eight were mentioned in dispatches.
