SAM’S THE MAN

Former Eider Chase winner can show benefit of wind op

-

I’M feeling adventurous ahead of the Daily Tips On Betting Betfair Handicap Chase at Haydock.

Conditions will tax even the bravest in this 3m4f marathon and the race doesn’t look as competitive as in some years, so it’s hard to resist the chance of SAM’S ADVENTURE (12.40).

He’s got winning form on heavy ground around Haydock and there has to be a chance few of his rivals will handle these conditions.

His form last year was pretty appalling but that came in much better races and he’s had a breathing operation over the summer. If that has done the trick then the 2021 Eider Chase hero will look way overpriced. Have 1pt each-way at 11-1.

Some good horses have won the Betfair Exchange Stayers’ Handicap Hurdle

– including topclass Paisley Park

– and it usually suits the young improver rather than the more experienced slogger.

GOOD RISK AT ALL (2.25) had some really good bumper form and he developed into a smart novice last season. He beat Wholestone in style on his return to action over 2m4f at Carlisle three weeks ago. The way he stayed on up the stiff finish suggests he will have little problem with the step up to 3m and the testing ground is ideal. Have 2pts to win at 5-1.

Venetia Williams (left) has lots of chances across both big meetings. Her FRERO BANBOU (3.15) made a nice comeback when chasing home Thyme White at Ascot last month. He looks to have improved over the summer as he travelled much better than he generally did last season.

There should be plenty of improvement to come with that run under his belt and it should help him turn the tables on Thyme White. Have 1pt each-way at 8-1. Sky Bet are paying out on four places.

Huntingdon has some fast ground and that will help frontrunning RHEBUS ROAD (1.58).

He won at the course over this 2m distance in May and he didn’t stay 2m4f on his return from a summer break last month. Have 2pts to win at 6-1.
