Lioness’ team jet dive hell

- EXCLUSIVE BY MARK JEFFERIES

Even the pilot said it had never happened in 30 years

LIONESS JILL SCOTT

ON TERRIFYING FLIGHT

JILL Scott once feared she was going to die on a plane full of her fellow Lionesses after the aircraft started to nose dive, leaving players phoning home in panic to say goodbye to their loved ones.

The former England star, 35, was on a flight during the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France when the pilot was forced to take action after the jet hit an air pocket.

Jill was sitting next to current England captain Leah Williamson and is “forever grateful” to her for comforting her.

She said: “We nearly went down. It was really bad. Even the pilot said it had never happened to him in 30 years. Before anyone says it was an air pocket, it was worse. All our heads went up.

“Everyone was texting home and ringing home on the plane. It was so bad. People were being sick. I am forever grateful to Leah for that moment.”

Jill still has a fear of flying but managed to do the 24-hour flight to Australia.

She also said she cracks too many jokes to overcompensate when she is going through a “bad time”. She said: “When people are struggling, who have similar personality traits to me, I think we go too much the other way.”
