Must attract kinder MPs
Boris Johnson reportedly earns £276,130 for a single speech in Colorado, US, while Matt Hancock pockets £400,000 for I’m A Celebrity (Mirror, November 18).
Serving MPs should be barred from taking on other paid work while they are supposed to be working for their constituents. I’d actually support increasing MPs’ wages if it means we attract a better class of politicians who care about public service, not just their own bank balance. Linda Francis, North London
I see Michael Gove has condemned the appalling housing conditions that caused the death of little Awaab Ishak who was exposed to mould. Mr Gove must have forgotten that it was the Tories who voted down a proposal to make renting homes unfit for human habitation unlawful. What a hypocrite.
