Sunak could block Lords for Dorries
RISHI Sunak could block Nadine Dorries getting the peerage Boris Johnson promised her over fears about the precedent it would set, it has emerged.
Former Culture Secretary Mrs Dorries has been put forward alongside
COP26 president Alok Sharma, Scottish Secretary Alister Jack and frontbencher Nigel Adams.
But there are concerns the appointments break the principle that people cannot be MPs and peers at the same time.
The House of Lords Appointment Commission is currently vetting Mr Johnson’s resignation list.
Deputy Labour leader Angela Rayner said he was trying to “game the system”. No10 declined to comment on “speculation” over his peerages list.
