Mason Greenwood to face trial over ‘attempted rape’ next year
MANCHESTER United star Mason Greenwood will face an attempted rape trial next year.
At Manchester’s Minshull Street crown court yesterday, the 21-yearold footballer was also charged with controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.
Dressed in a black suit, he spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.
Jason Pitter KC, prosecuting, asked for a case management hearing to be held on February 10 next year. A trial date was set for November 27, 2023, with the case expected to last 10 days.
No pleas were entered and the judge granted conditional bail. Greenwood’s parents were in court for the hearing.
Greenwood was first held in January over allegations relating to a woman in 2018. He has been suspended by United.
