Mendy jurors told to think of ‘credibility’

- BY PAT HURST

JURORS in the rape trial of Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy and friend Louis Saha Matturie have been told to question their accusers’ credibility.

Lisa Wilding KC, defending Matturie, said: “This case rests on the credibility of witnesses.”

Mendy is accused of luring young women into situations where they were raped and sexually assaulted at a flat in Manchester and his home in Cheshire, with Matturie allegedly his “fixer”. Both say sex was consensual.

Mendy denies rape, attempted rape and sexual assault relating to six young women. Matturie of Eccles, Salford, denies rape and sexual assault relating to seven young women.

The trial continues at Chester crown court.
