Shouting got the Hamster out of coma
RICHARD Hammond says his wife woke him from a coma by shouting at him.
The ex-Top Gear host, known as the Hamster, said of the aftermath of his 288mph car crash in 2006: “I finally woke and I shared with my wife Mindy a dream I’d been having.
“I’d been walking these hills... having a lovely time strolling along.”
He said on his YouTube channel What Next: “Gradually I got a sense of... you know when you know you’re in trouble? That feeling grew and grew.”
He learned Mindy, 57, had asked intensive care staff if she could shout at him: “Don’t you dare die!”
Richard, 52, added: “And that’s when I woke.”
The crash caused brain injuries, leading to depression and memory loss.
