Paterson EU court action on lobbying
EX-TORY MP Owen Paterson is taking the Government to the European Court of Human Rights on Parliament’s ruling that he broke lobbying rules.
The staunch Brexiteer, who once argued the UK should “break free” from the ECHR, complained to the European body in September, saying his right to privacy was breached.
The court yesterday formally approached the Government for its response to the complaint.
Mr Paterson quit before he could be suspended over a report which found him guilty of “egregious” breaches after lobbying for two firms that paid him a combined £112k a year.
The Prime Minister’s spokesman did not comment on the legal action.
