We said the world was “horror struck” by the assassination of US President John F Kennedy, 46, as he and his wife Jackie, 34, rode in an open-topped motorcade through Dallas, Texas.
26 YEARS AGO (1996)
A hijacked Ethiopian passenger plane crashed into the Indian Ocean after running out of fuel. Out of the 175 passengers, 125 died including the three hijackers.
19 YEARS AGO (2003)
Georgian president Eduard Shevardnadze resigned over disputed elections. The peaceful change of power marked the end of its pro-Russian leadership.
