Nearly 1 in 3 lone parents skip dinners
NEARLY a third of single parent households have skipped meals due to rising food prices.
The figure is around double parents in couples and higher than across the population, Which? said.
A 34-year-old Scottish parent said: “I’m not eating properly so that I have enough money to feed and clothe my kids and still have enough to put in my electricity meter.”
Nearly 10% of single parents said they had used a foodbank in the previous two months, compared to 3% of the UK overall.
Rocio Concha, Which? director, said: “While the Government has a crucial role to play, supermarkets can also play their part in helping customers navigate the tough months ahead.”
