82 & left ‘freezing’ on ward
AN 82-year-old with pneumonia was left “freezing” on a ward for days at a new £1billion hospital. She was admitted to the Royal Liverpool last week after falling ill and waited on a trolley for two days before being moved to a respiratory ward.
BLANKETS
Her daughter said her “vulnerable” mother told her she was then left ‘”freezing” for days.
The woman, who did not want us to name them, raised the matter with a member of staff who said the hospital had been struggling with heating issues and provided blankets for her mum.
“It is obviously not good a pneumonia patient is lying there really cold,” she said.
Dan Grimes, director of operations for the hospital, said a faulty component had been fixed and heating was back to normal.
He added: “We’d like to apologise.”
