Born to be a male midwife
A DAD who became a midwife is urging other men to join the profession.
Former metal worker Mark Smart told how he loves his new role after training as an NHS nurse.
The 60-year-old works at Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran and is one of just four male midwives across Wales.
Calling on more men to become midwives, he said: “You have to be caring, very kind and empathetic.
“I’m just one of the team. I’m just one of the girls.”
