Government must tackle HRT ‘postcode lottery’
Menopause, quite rightly, is currently in the spotlight.
The All Party Parliamentary Group on Menopause recommends scrapping prescription costs for hormone replacement therapy in England, as is the case in the rest of the UK.
It also says all women should be offered a health check at age 45 to help diagnose menopause at an earlier stage. But we must also tackle delayed diagnosis, difficulties in accessing HRT, and a lack of employer support.
We should also avoid a socioeconomic divide opening up between women who can access the right care and those losing out in a postcode lottery.
