Tragedy for pundit Nadia
■ SOME performance by Spain, that, on Wednesday night. Seven-nil and even Alvaro Morata scored.
IF you need some perspective during this World Cup, think about Nadia Nadim, the former Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain forward who became a professional footballer after escaping Afghanistan as a refugee.
Nadia was working as an ITV pundit when she had to suddenly leave the coverage of Tunisia versus Denmark – the nation she has represented.
The awful news that caused her departure was her 57-year-old mother – who had bravely taken her away from Afghanistan – had been killed by a truck.
So whatever happens on the pitch, remember football is great but not a matter of life and death.
