Your weekly gardening to-do list

■ Throw out cracked and broken pots and wash the rest. If you are raising plants from seed next spring, use diluted greenhouse disinfectant to kill any spores in pots, then pack them in carrier bags tied at the neck.

■ Push ahead with garden maintenance and repairs, particularly to fences, arches and outbuildings. Treat exposed timber with preservative.

■ Pressure-wash the patio and weed between the gaps. Replace any broken mortar.
