GOLDEN oldie Nigel Winterburn got Arsenal out of UEFA Cup jail – and boss Arsene Wenger tipped him for an England comeback. The defender, 35, hit the second goal in the Gunners’ 3-0 win over Nantes.

His boss said: “You look at the English left-backs and you would put Nigel in the top three. But he has said that he doesn’t want it any more – and that is a shame for England.” The bad news for Arsenal was that Emmanuel Petit limped off with the recurrence of a knee ligament injury.
