Three held on Xmas market car mayhem
THREE men have been arrested after a car sped down a crowded street as hundreds of people attended a Christmas market.
The silver VW Golf was “doing at least 50mph” as terrified families scattered in front of it.
The car sped into the pedestrianised street in Congleton, Cheshire, at around 4pm on Saturday.
Shocked witnesses told of hearing screeching tyres and screaming.
Antiques store owner Steve Brown, 58, said: “It was horrendous. The car came screeching down the high street, which was full of stalls and people.”
Cheshire Police confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
The car was found abandoned shortly afterwards.
