Train sets ‘worth £100k’
ONE of the UK’s largest collections of model trains is expected to fetch at least £100k.
The haul contains 3,000 items, some dating back more than 100 years.
It will be sold online next month by Stuart Bull on behalf of an anonymous collector. The auctioneer believes the private collection could be the largest ever sold in the UK.
He said: “There are hundreds of boxes. He started buying and didn’t stop. He said, ‘I don’t even like trains’ ... he’s going to get a big payday.”
The trains will be sold on December 10 and 11 in Chard, Somerset.
