JOHNSON’S IN DARK OVER LACK OF SPARK

-

GARY JOHNSON admits TORQUAY had only themselves to blame after a 1-1 draw with GATESHEAD that kept them at the foot of the National League.

Aaron Jarvis (left) put the Gulls ahead in the 70th minute but Owen Bailey (above) levelled five minutes later. Torquay boss Johnson said: “I don’t know what happened, the lads seemed to switch off. We just have to keep going. It’s unfortunate we shot ourselves in the foot in the last 20 minutes.”

SCUNTHORPE are second bottom after losing 3-1 at WEALDSTONE, who moved into the top half of the table. Iron’s Joe Nuttall was dismissed before the break and interim boss Tony Daws said: “The sending off changed the game. We were 1-0 up and doing OK.”

A Max Kretzschmar penalty levelled the score, with Micah Obiero and Olufela Olomola – against his former club – settling matters in the second half.

Strugglers MAIDSTONE made it three league games without defeat with a 3-2 home win over MAIDENHEAD.
