Baby given a day to live is Xmas miracle

- BY ELLIE FORBES

A PREMATURE baby given just one day to live has turned on the Christmas lights at the hospital which cared for him.

Hector Tully was born weighing just 23oz and suffering multiple complications including chronic lung disease, spending 259 nights on a ward.

But he beat the odds to celebrate his first birthday with parents Marie Clare and Angus, both 41.

He was given the VIP treatment at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, Edinburgh.

Charity chief Marie Clare, of Edinburgh, said: “It’s thanks to everyone there that Hector is here with us this Christmas.

“It hasn’t been easy, but it has been the best year of our lives. We feel so blessed to have him.”
