Pilot gets his wires crossed
FLYING at night can pylon the pressure, as the pilot of this single-engine plane found.
Patrick Merkle, 65, and passenger Janet Williams, 66, somehow escaped after hitting power lines at 100ft.
Both were taken to hospital with serious but non-lifethreatening injuries.
Engineers had to disconnect wires to make the plane stable enough for rescuers as 120,000 people were left without power in Maryland, US. The crash is being investigated.
