MAKE HAYE, TYSON... AND BEAT MY WIN

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

TYSON FURY has been dared to turn on the style against Derek Chisora on Saturday.

Old rival David Haye says Fury (with Chisora above) must not ruin the spectacle when he defends his WBC crown at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The former WBA champion has challenged Fury to put on a show for the fans in their trilogy fight by taking on Chisora in a slugfest.

Haye cheekily goaded the unbeaten Gypsy King, saying the fans will want to see if he can better his five-round stoppage of Chisora a decade ago.

Haye (below) said: “Is Tyson Fury going to turn southpaw like he did in his second fight with Chisora and win it comfortably on points?

“Or is he going to want to show the world he can stop Derek Chisora quicker than when David Haye stopped him in five rounds and put himself in harm’s way?

“Is he going to want to make a statement? I think he does and if so we’ve got ourselves a decent scrap.

“It all depends on Tyson Fury’s mindset. Is he going to come out and be friendly, friendly because it’s his mate? Just touch gloves, bounce round and have a nice comfortable boxing match?

“Or is he going to step up to Derek, go toe-to-toe and say ‘let’s have a tear-up?’ It would be great for the fans if Tyson did that. It would also give Chisora more of a chance of victory. If Tyson is as good as he says he is, then why not stand there and go toe-to-toe with Chisora?”

Fury offered Chisora this voluntary defence to keep active ahead of his showdown with Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight title early next year. Usyk has questioned Fury’s decision to fight so close to their clash, but Haye says it makes sense to keep ticking over.

Haye said: “For someone with Tyson Fury’s perceived personality, with the issues he’s had over the years, being in training camp in preparation for a fight against someone he has beaten twice before, comfortably, is good.

“If Tyson Fury is 100 percent confident, this fight won’t be an issue, as the bookmakers suggest.

“It’s a strategic fight to put himself in a comfortable position for when the fight with Usyk does materialise.

“He’ll be ring sharp and ring ready, and if he puts on a great performance against Chisora, then he’s got momentum back with him.”
