Beware the genius of Bale & Ramsey

THE CRITICISM Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey have had for Wales staggers me. They are two players who have done so much for that country’s national team.

They’ve been standard-bearers for Welsh football. An inspiration to future generations. They’ve taken the country from mediocrity to the last four of a European Championship.

Now they are at a first World Cup in 64 years. Of course, it is going to be tough. Of course, it is going to demand a lot of the players and, of course, there are going to be results and performances that people are not happy with – just like with England and the USA. Ramsey and Bale (left) should be cherished. I expect them to play against England and I expect them to lead the charge. Both of them are capable of moments of genius, and England would do well not to take them – or the team – for granted.
