‘WE GET THAT YOU BOO US’
KIERAN TRIPPIER has joined the list of England players who refuse to criticise fans who jeered them at the end of the goalless draw with the United States.
The stalemate with the Americans last Friday was greeted with loud boos at the final whistle but Trippier said he understood the supporters’ frustrations and had no problem with them expressing them.
The England full-back said: “Of course the fans want us to win every game and we sometimes understand the frustration.
“I understand where they are coming from, of course I do because they want us to win and score goals but sometimes, especially in tournament football, it’s not 4-0, 5-0, 6-0, every game and it was a tough battle against USA.
“All I can say to the fans is that the boys have given us everything and keep supporting us like you have been in the last tournaments.”
A lot of players insist the England fans were supportive when they went over to acknowledge them after the match. English supporters outnumbered Americans in the Al Bayt Stadium but the ratio to Welsh fans is expected to be 50-50 tonight.
