SPAIN GAV A NO-RISK APPROACH

-

SPAIN midfielder Gavi missed training yesterday as a precaution after picking up a minor injury in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Germany.

The teenager (above) was substituted in the 66th minute at the Al Bayt Stadium, shortly after Spain took the lead through Alvaro Morata.

Substitute Niclas Fullkrug rescued Germany when he levelled in the 83rd minute.

The problem is not expected to prevent the 18-year-old from being available for his country’s final Group E match against Japan on Thursday.

Spain need a draw to go through to the last 16.

Gavi grabbed a goal in the 7-0 rout of Costa Rica, becoming the youngest World Cup scorer since Pele’s winner against Wales in 1958 aged 17 years and 239 days.
