DOUBLE WILL TELLA STORY OF FA GLORY

Burnley 2 Ipswich 1

- BY STEVE BATES

DOUBLE goal hero Nathan Tella struck a glorious injury-time winner to send Burnley into the last 16 of the FA Cup.

The on-loan Southampton star (above) kept Burnley’s extraordinary season flying on two fronts scoring in the opening minute and late into seven minutes of added-time to break Ipswich hearts.

The tie was heading to extra-time when Tella latched on to a flick from substitute Ashley Barnes to run through and fire home.

Town boss Kieran McKenna made it clear Saturday’s League One clash against Sheffield Wednesday is his biggest game of the week. But Ipswich gave it a real go and were not intimidated by a Burnley side on a nine-game winning streak that is propelling them to the top flight.

Town recovered from the shock of going a goal down in 43 seconds to hit straight back in a fast and furious start.

Vincent Kompany made seven changes from the 3-0 win at Norwich, but it was business as they went ahead.

Vitinho and Ian Maatsen combined and debutant Lyle Foster unselfishly teed up Tella to thunder in his 10th of the season. Plenty have crumbled at Turf Moor after such setbacks, but Ipswich showed character, and they drew level moments later.

Sone Aluko played in livewire Kayden Jackson down the right and his cross into the box was steered past Bailey Peacock-Farrell by George Hirst for his first Town goal.

Ipswich were more than matched high-flying Burnley, and after the break Jackson forced PeacockFarrell into a vital stop with his feet after his opposite number Vaclav Hladky had defied Tella with a superb one-handed save.

Kompany threw on his big guns to try and grab the winner, but it was Tella who was the hero again.
