DAISY A BIT ORF WITH HIS HEAD THE DIARY

- with Jessica Boulton

Errr... you might be a BAFTA-winning star with This Country, Daisy May Cooper.

But you probably won’t need a fancy gown for the Coronation.

Why? Because after this portrait, it’s unlikely you’ll be getting an invitation. Unless it’s to the Tower, that is.

Yes, Daisy’s turned her creative talents to sketching to help launch the BBC’s Royally Big Portrait in aid of Children in Need. And while she has captured some similarity to King Charles III, it’s safe to say art isn’t her forte.

Posting her effort online, Daisy said: “I’ve drawn my portrait of the King, you can do it too!

“All you need is a pen and some paper!”

And in your case, Daisy, maybe a bit of tracing paper too ....

ITV finally announced the new hosts of its much anticipated Big Brother reboot yesterday.

And please do not swear .... but it was not one of the bookies’ favourites, Rylan Clark.

Within minutes of the news that fellow bookies’ fave AJ Odudu and Will Best would be taking the reins, “Rylan” was trending on Twitter, with many BB fans upset he wasn’t making a return.

It comes after bookies had been backing the former housemate and BB Bit on the Side presenter to bag the big job after he quit BBC’s Strictly spin-off It Takes Two last fortnight. But instead it will be Will and AJ – who starred alongside Rylan on Ch5’s BBBOTS in 2013 – on the ITV2 reboot.

Eurovision presenter Rylan had tweeted a clip of AJ from their time on BBBOTS, before the announcement – leading many to believe he was only too happy for his former co-star.

Meanwhile, AJ’s thrilled she no longer has to keep it secret. “I’m so excited to finally be able to say that, yes: I’m hosting Big Brother!” she said. “To front such an iconic show is an absolute honour.”

According to the eligibility criteria, the six-week show is likely to take place in the autumn, with the hunt currently on for “the nation’s most interesting, funny and entertaining characters from all walks of life.”

Guess that dashes Matt Hancock’s hopes of doing another iconic reality show then.

Alec Baldwin needs a second hip replacement as soon as he wraps on his ill-fated western Rust. The actor, 65, only returned to filming last week, after the authorities dropped involuntary manslaughter charges against him for the tragic 2021 shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42.

But he’s already finding it tough being back on set – and is waiting for “freedom” from the troubled project, so he can have the much-needed op on his right hip.

It comes as pictures emerged of six crew members having to help him get on a horse.

In an emotional video on Instagram, Alec made it clear anyone mocking him, could just trot on.

“It’s very painful. I can’t swing my leg out. It’s very demoralising,” he explained.

“I have to have a little contingent of men to help me get back on the horse because I’m in so much pain.

“It’s been really tough physically.”

EastEnders Rose AylingEllis is no stranger to straight-talking co-stars. She even won over razor-tongued Craig Revel Horwood to take the 2021 Strictly crown.

But now Rose is up against some even more no-nonsense celebs... the Loose Women. The actress has been announced as a guest panellist on May 3, and will be helming a special show for Deaf Awareness Week, complete with an audience made up of members of the deaf community.

She’s on the show with fellow Strictly veteran Kaye Adams, so at least they have a love of cha cha chas and waltzes in common. And if the Loose Women get too mouthy, Rose can simply suggest they foxtrot. Foxtrot oscar, that is.

The noms for the National Reality TV Awards have been announced – and there’ll be awkward moments for some co-stars.

Dragons Touker Suleyman, Deborah Meaden and Steven Bartlett are up against each other for best reality TV judge, while Peter Jones and Strictly’s Sara Davies are left out.

Simon Cowell and Alesha Dixon are also pitted against each other in the same category for Britain’s Got Talent.

BBC’s The Traitors, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, has six nods, Strictly has just one – best female personality for Jowita Przystal.

Vote at nationalrealitytvawards. org (one suspects Peter Jones won’t be needing that link.)
